In truth
I was heading to
the Deep End, though
I knew I couldn't really swim,
out farther and farther
I descended, barely treading
before going over my head, I 
saw the life guards
distant on the shore
but I did not scream for help,
did not wave my arms about
so I was ignored,
did not seem in such distress,
they know not 
the heavy darkness
weighing me down,
I knew I would sink,
